Our Story & Mission
Hydra Bar Salon, founded on December 3, 2013, was born from Rhonda’s personal journey with her own hair. After experiencing frustration at various salons that couldn’t handle her “difficult” hair, Rhonda took matters into her own hands and discovered the true potential of her natural curls. She mastered the art of hydrating and defining kinky textures, turning them into beautiful, manageable curls. This breakthrough led her to open Hydra Bar Salon, where she shares her expertise and helps clients embrace their unique curly textures.
Hydra Bar is hair care 1st! Hydra Bar is based on Hydration. The Science behind getting water to live in unity when you strands so you can have lasting hydration.
It’s like putting a self-feeder in your plant where it drips water into the soil slowly. This effect allows the hair to continuously get the moisture did it needs.

Hi! My name is Rhonda founder of Hydra Bar Salon and Nurture Hair Care. Mother of one, sister, aunt, and was a daughter of a proud mother. My passion for hair came at early age when my grandmother and my mother used to have me do their hair.
I always been fascinated with hair. However, I always been curious about why more women of color don’t wear their natural hair and why do we always resort to straightening it? I decided to explore wearing our natural texture.
What I discovered was we were more than just Afros and braiding our hair down. We were actually naturally curly.
When I started catering to the curly hair by giving it more water, I noticed that the hair got curlier and curlier and more manageable. I realize I was on to something and I wanted to share it with other women of color who also struggled with their hair.
I found it a Hydration technique that we use in Hydra Bar, Salon and I also founded Nurture Haircare that works with or without that technique. It was created to trap water. I am proud to say that I have been a part of transforming many women, children and men who were dissatisfied with their natural texture. Hair is such a big part of how we feel about ourselves physically.
I take pride in making us feel good about our hair. I’m proud to see today curly hair is widely embraced. I’m just a country small town girl from North Carolina who just admired the women in her family hair and discovered there was more to just hair. Hair can be a confidence booster and I can be proud to say I do and apart of something that makes people feel good about themselves.
